Good design can be found in the most unexpected places. In fact, some little and unknown design improvements are the most amazing advanced to technology sometimes.

In my opinion, the Flow Hive is one of these breakthrough designs. It looks like nothing special, but it may change the way we harvest honey forever. As usual, it’s hard to predict whether it will be widely adopted or not.

This system that allows beekepers to collect honey automatically was designed by Stuart and Cedar Anderson, a father and son who work as beekepers in Australia.

I will not get into details here on how the system works. You can read all of this on their website. It is enough for me to say that it will make the process easier for humans and it will disturb the bees less. You can already show your support for this discovery and help the Andersons to put it in production by supporting their IndieGogo campaign.
