Victor Enrich is a fine artist from Barcelona, in Spain. He is self-taught and works mostly with photography and digital art. Looking at his work, one would think that he could have made a good career in architecture.
For over ten years now, his work has revolved around the city with various projects that took new looks at the buildings and the cityscapes. His most famous and larger project is the “City portraits” series, which he started in 2006. In this series, he takes urban landscapes and plays with the buildings to create new, often impossible, cityscapes.
From his artist statement, one paragraph explains his work quite well I think.
The self-determination of the buildings manifested in the uniqueness of its combination of proportions, materials and functions behaves as the starting point of an investigative path towards the discovery of the forgotten soul of the city, (thus, himself…), which confronts consciousness and unconsciousness for the sake of finding the abnormal within the normal, the unusual around the usual, the hated among the beloved.
